  • Book Open Houses whenever you can instead of campus visits because Open Houses give you more information about the school's admission process, student body and, sometimes, a feel for the type of classes offered, whereas campus visits only provide a general tour of the place.
  • Whenever you visit a college, be sure to find your admissions counselor and get their business card.
    • Email them when you get home saying you enjoyed your visit and look forward to applying; interest in the school is very important in the admissions process.
  • Make sure to apply and complete your CUNY applications as quickly as possible because the seats go quickly.
    • Macaulay Honors is a special free program for those who are academically talented and achieve a combined critical reading and math score of a 1200 or higher on the SAT
  • Schedule interviews and ask to do mock interviews with Ms. Rosete.
  • Avoid clichés as much as possible when writing your college essays.
  • Make sure to make copies of each application. Before you submit, print the PDF version and check it for accuracy.
